45 Entries are now open for The MoonWalk London, the iconic nighttime charity walking event, which returns in 2027 with a new 10-mile challenge. The addition is designed to give more people the chance to take part and raise funds to help beat cancer. The MoonWalk London 2027 takes place overnight on Saturday 15th May, starting and finishing at Clapham Common, with thousands of people expected to take part. Participants will walk through the capital’s streets after dark, creating an atmosphere that has made the event a highlight of the UK’s charity calendar. Walkers typically wear decorated bras or brightly coloured bra T-shirts, creating a vibrant spectacle while raising awareness and funds for people living with cancer. Walk the Walk, the charity behind the event, is celebrating three decades of inspiring people to get walking, live healthier lives, and raise money to support those affected by cancer. Since 1996, the charity has raised more than £148 million. For 2027, walkers can choose from: New Moon 10K, launched last year and already proving a huge success. The new 10-mile challenge, a step up from the 10K and an accessible option for those wanting a bigger challenge without the training commitment of a half marathon or marathon. Half Moon, 15.1 miles. Full Moon, 26.2 miles, the charity’s longest-standing and most demanding challenge. David Wright, CEO of Walk the Walk, said: “We’re delighted to be opening entries for The MoonWalk London 2027 and can’t wait to welcome thousands of MoonWalkers in May.” “The launch of our new 10-mile challenge makes this year even more exciting. We know that not everyone wants to commit to the training needed for a half marathon or marathon, so this new distance offers a fantastic stepping stone between the 10K and our longer challenges. We want as many people as possible to feel that The MoonWalk is something they can take on.” “For many, taking on The MoonWalk is also a first step towards becoming more active and living a healthier life, helping to reduce their risk of cancer.” “And our work goes far beyond one unforgettable night. As well as raising vital funds to support people affected by cancer, we continue to campaign for change, from widening access to regular mammograms and improving cancer prevention education in schools, to championing walking as a tool for cancer prevention and recovery.” “Whether you’re a seasoned MoonWalker or taking on your first challenge, we’d love you to join us in 2027.” Beyond the event itself, Walk the Walk advocates for better access to breast screening and promotes physical activity as a practical way to support both prevention and recovery. Training plans are available for those who sign up, helping people of varying fitness levels prepare for the event. Participants of different ages and abilities come together for an experience that combines fundraising with a sense of community and personal achievement. By opening entries well in advance, the charity aims to give people time to prepare, form teams, and begin fundraising.
